TDR III Cable Analyzer/Tap
detection system: When it is
suspected that a customer is stealing energy via a tap ahead of the meter,
the TDR is used to determine the presence and location of the tap on
overhead or underground cables between the meter installation and the
distribution transformer. The TDR III and its
associated software can locate anomalies to within 1 foot and will
differentiate taps as close as1 foot from the meter. Each reading is
analyzed in the hand held unit, and the analysis is displayed on the LCD
display in English, Spanish, Portugese or French. Each record is
automatically stored in the TDR memory (94 records). These records can
then be bulk uploaded to a computer for further analysis. The software is
Windows 95, 98 and NT compatible and is in English, Spanish, Portugese and
French. Each record is stored with the date and time. This data can then
be used to obtain a search warrant to expose the tap.
